To perform Shariah compliance review or assurance for an Authorised Deposit-taking Institution (ADI)/ restricted ADI

Key Deliverables:

  • Develop assurance plan based on the specified methodology, applicable assurance standards and Shariah-compliant requirements.
  • Perform assessments of processes, controls, and procedures to ensure compliance with Islamic laws and the organisational policies.
  • Prepare assurance or review reports on the findings, including recommendations for improvement, to relevant stakeholders such as senior management.
  • Prepare quality workpapers with clear and concise documentation to support the findings.
Skills and experience required:
  • CA, CPA or CIA qualified (not essential but preferred).
  • Prior experience in Shariah compliance.
  • 5 years+ experience in assurance, risk and controls, preferably in Banking/ other ADIs.
  • Strong understanding of Islamic Finance and the principles of Shariah.
  • Strong understanding of compliance management, including, assurance, controls and the three lines of defence.
  • Excellent communication skills and an independent thinker.
  • Highly efficient with demonstrated ability to prioritise, schedule and meet challenging deadlines.
Logistics:

Start: April 2024 Duration: Three weeks part-time.

Location: Sydney CBD or Remote.

Rates: The daily rate to the consultant will be negotiated.
