Consultant Gig #960–Australia–Operating Model Specialist

The project is to carve out the two companies leaving three standalone companies.

Specific Skills:

  • Work with in-house and System Integration team to develop Target Operating Model for stand-alone businesses during and post-separation of the businesses
  • There will be business partners developing and driving the business needs of the different functional areas (finance, HR, wealth management etc) this role will also monitor the technology environment from the technology perspective
  • Ensure technology introduced supports the post-operating model budget from functional and cost-of-technology perspectives

General Background:

  1. Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior leadership and key stakeholders to understand the organization’s strategic objectives, priorities, and business requirements post-de-merger. Develop a clear vision and strategy for the IT operating model that supports the organization’s long-term goals and enables business success.
  2. Operating Model Design: Lead the design and development of the IT operating model, including organizational structure, governance framework, processes, roles, and responsibilities. Define clear lines of accountability and decision-making authority to ensure effective IT governance and alignment with business needs.
  3. Service Delivery Model: Define the IT service delivery model, encompassing service catalog, service levels, service management processes, and service integration points. Ensure that IT services are aligned with business needs, customer expectations, and industry best practices.
  4. Technology Architecture: Collaborate with enterprise architects and technology leaders to define the technology architecture principles and standards that underpin the IT operating model. Ensure that technology decisions support the organization’s strategic objectives, scalability, and flexibility post-de-merger.
  5. Change Management and Communication: Develop and implement change management strategies and communication plans to facilitate the adoption of the new IT operating model across the organization. Engage with stakeholders at all levels to build awareness, understanding, and buy-in for the changes.
  6. Organizational Transition: Lead the transition of IT functions, processes, and resources from the pre-de-merger environment to the newly established operating model. Work closely with HR and talent management teams to support organizational restructuring, role definitions, and skills development.
  7. Performance Measurement and Continuous Improvement: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness and performance of the IT operating model. Monitor and analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement and optimization. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency, agility, and effectiveness of IT operations.
  8. Risk Management and Compliance: Identify and assess risks associated with the IT operating model and develop risk mitigation strategies to address them. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal policies.

 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT strategy, IT governance, organizational design, or related roles, preferably in a post-merger or de-merger environment.
  • Strong understanding of IT operating models, organizational design principles, and IT governance frameworks (e.g., ITIL, COBIT, TOGAF).
  • Experience with large-scale IT transformation initiatives, including organizational restructuring, process redesign, and technology adoption.
  • Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of driving results and delivering business value.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas and concepts to diverse audiences
Logistics:

Start: The project will commence at 6 months duration and pending satisfactory performance continue for at least 1-3 years

There are three / four roles that are required in the short term – the fourth may be required later. 

Location: Sydney

Rates: The daily rate to the consultant will be $1,200 per day paid plus gst to the right professional.
