The project is to carve out the two companies leaving three standalone companies.

Develop an understanding of data needs of two carved out businesses, specify data requirements and establish data perimeter

 

Key Deliverables:

  1. Data Architecture Design: Design and develop the organization’s data architecture, including data models, schemas, and structures, to support the storage, retrieval, and analysis of data. Define data standards, policies, and guidelines to ensure consistency and quality across data assets.
  2. Data Integration and ETL: Design and implement data integration solutions to facilitate the seamless exchange and transformation of data between different systems, applications, and databases. Develop ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to populate data warehouses and data lakes with structured and unstructured data.
  3. Database Management: Evaluate, select, and implement database technologies and platforms that best meet the organization’s needs, considering factors such as scalability, performance, and cost-effectiveness. Manage and optimize databases to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security.
  4. Data Governance and Compliance: Establish data governance frameworks and processes to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of data assets. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS, and implement data security measures to protect sensitive information.
  5. Data Quality and Master Data Management: Define and implement data quality standards and procedures to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data. Develop master data management (MDM) strategies and solutions to manage and govern master data across the organization.
  6. Data Analytics and Reporting: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their data requirements and develop data analytics and reporting solutions that provide actionable insights and support data-driven decision-making. Design and optimize data warehouses, data marts, and BI (Business Intelligence) tools to enable efficient data analysis and visualization.
  7. Data Migration and Archiving: Plan and oversee data migration projects to transfer data between different systems, platforms, or storage environments. Develop data archiving strategies to manage the retention and disposal of historical data in compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
  8. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Document data architecture designs, data models, and technical specifications to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure alignment with organizational standards and best practices. Provide training and guidance to other team members on data architecture principles and practices.
Skills and experience required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data architecture, database design, or data management.
  • Proficiency in data modeling techniques and tools, such as ERwin, ER/Studio, or PowerDesigner.
  • Strong understanding of database technologies and platforms, including relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Experience with data integration tools and technologies, such as Informatica, Talend, or Apache NiFi.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and master data management (MDM) principles.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and reporting tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, or QlikView.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.
Logistics:

Start: The project will commence at 6 months duration and pending satisfactory performance continue for at least 1-3 years

There are three / four roles that are required in the short term – the fourth may be required later. 

Location: Sydney (Remote possible for the right candidate)

Rates: The daily rate to the consultant will be $1,200 per day paid plus gst to the right professional.
